My Family My Dad - 888 Words

I was seven years old when I was told that the parents who raised me were not my biological parents. I clearly remember the day that my aunt reveled the story how become her child. The story begun with her intellectual and revolutionary younger brother decided to become the president of Ethiopian Airlines Labor Union, who stood against the military dictatorship Ethiopian government. My dad was one of the leaders who coordinated a peaceful declaration for strike asking the government to give the power to the people. My dad, became the one of the most wanted for a campaign of mass killings called Red Terror, after seven people were shot and about 300 employees were arrested at her work place. The Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (2015P) reports, â€Å"Estimates for the total number of people killed in the Red Terror range from 50,000to 140,000 to over one and a half million†, which included several universities students, educated and professional young men and women. My birth mother was a nine months pregnant with me and had my 11 months old sister when my dad comes home secretly on Ethiopian New Year’s Eve night to check on his family. A neighbor comes in the backdoor of our house to let my father know soldiers are coming to his home. My dad walked out of the back door of his house as the soldiers walked to the front door. The soldiers search the house and terrorized my mother and left with warning that they will kill her and her child if they cannot find my dad.
